How long does pt cruisers last

GingerH answered 4 years ago. I bought this used about 8 mos ago. While i recognize that cars hit a zone where everything just starts needing to be replaced, i find the ease of detection to be too mysterious. Valve cover gaskets, cam shaft sensor, crank shaft sensor, oil pressure sensor, 2 of 3 motor mounts were broke and the transmission mount. This car has 3 on 1 side and the trans mount on the other just sounds like a bad idea Ive been on many blogs and forums that indicate the same types of problems or bugs with this car.

Map sensors go out. Camshaft and crankshaft sensors. Link between cam and crank shorts out. Motor mounts break. Random idle issues that cant be detected until something bad happens. Im sure theres more im not remembering. All of this is common and frequently occurring in all of the blogs and my own experience with mine and all prior to around , miles. The previous replaced the tranny prior to , The most frustrating thing is the number of things that cause this car to randomly die and are hard to detect.

So many people have gone down the line of replacing numerous things in a guessing game. Pretty standard to disconnect the battery on many vehicles to remove and reset error codes that may or may not be real. So I appreciate that "trick" that you referred to. I totally agree Cruisers often have cooling fan issues but the engines and transmissions seem to last a long time IF they are maintained and driven sensibly.

They are a great little "grocery getter" and far more comfortable to get into and ride in than many cars of the same price range. I have had mine back and forth from Canada to Mexico and several mile plus trips to California with 4 adults and everyone and everything went well.

They are not as comfortable to ride in as my wife's Cadillac but few cars are and it isn't designed as a luxury car. Guru5BMPW answered 3 years ago. For woman like myself, thisn k the sparkplugs are a Lil hard to get to. Have had coolant loss with. No visible leaks. Getting ready to use a produCT that has a dble back guarantee FiberLock? Anyone with advice?

Also, front windows no longer work! Fuses are all ok, switches etc.. Guru5CL53 answered 3 years ago. GuruWJS8X answered 3 years ago. I bought mine new in , have , mi. It's a Limited Edition, with the woody paneling. It's great for hauling stuff from Lowes. I can fit a bicycle inside the PT. The turning ratio sucks, but you get used to it. I have had some regular car issues with it,--but all of it is just under normal regular maintenance.

The only things that I really wish were different is the noise in the car--I was spoiled by the quiet Mercedes. Also, it's such a light vehicle--almost as if you can feel your PT running over a dime! I do wish the car were heavier, --that would make it feel safer. It sounds like alot of people got Lemons for their PT. Also, it sounds like most Lemons were not Ltd. Editions of before I really enjoy my car--it usually is always the smartest looking vehicle in a parking lot!

My wife and I purchased our GT almost 6 years ago with 49K miles. It had been very well taken care of and I am glad to report that since we have owned our PT it has done nothing but exceed our expectations. I am 6'4" tall and fit in the car with leg and head room to spare.

My wife who is 5'6" tall also fits in the car and this is saying something since we do not have a power drivers seat. The car has a very smooth ride, great power it is a GT high output turbo and can haul more than you would expect for something it's size. Like most used cars I would find the very best example you can afford.

Sooner32ford answered about a year ago. I have owned four of them from the very first year to the last in Battery and tires are the only items I have ever needed except new brake pads on the at 78, miles.

I bought a special order in as it was announced to be the last year went on to be This is a turbo with leather, Chrysler color and 17" Chrysler wheels. I now has 2, miles yes, only two thousand miles and all the manufacturers protective plastic still on it. This is if someone is interested in a perfect new one Guru6C87J answered about a year ago. We would never buy a different car. I just bought my 6th one!!! I'm going to drive it until it dies, not going to put much more money into it, except oil change.

Have a Have had it 11 years. Changed timing belt, water pump, etc at 97, miles. Still love this car. Superb body and interior to any small car I've owned.

Still looks great. Not looking to get rid of it. Mark answered about a year ago. My pt cruser sucks computer is out. It's been mostly by passed. I have a PT Cruiser I've had it for 5 or 6 yrs. Its paid for so I dont mind putting money into it now and then.

I took it to Goodyear in Fayetteville about a month ago. They did a diagnostic on it and came up with over worth of things that needed to be fixed. I'm a female and I went by myself. I didnt know what vfc questions to ask so I ask what was prioritie at the time? I got worth of work done. Thought I was in the clear. A few days later my thermostat started acting up. That was the initial reason for taking it to them.

Because the needle wasn't close to hot when they looked at it they said nothing was wrong with the thermostat. Paid to have it changed. A week later check engine light back on. Took it to Aamco for s diagnostic. They said a misfire.

I told them I just got a tune up and worth of work done. Took it back to Goodyear in Fayetteville Georgia, now they are saying catalytic converter. I need a mechanic that works on the PT Cruiser.

I called Chrysler and they dont work on cars older than 10 years unless they have worked on it from day 1. There is no telling how long it will last because it all depends on how hard you drive the car, how good you maintain it, how good the parts were manufactured, and what kind of environment you drive in.

The car could last you another 50 miles or it could last you another , miles there is really no telling how long it will last. It all stands on ifs and maybes. Your email address will not be published.
